My Story
Who I am now and who I was last year are two very different people. Last year I was working 72hour work weeks as the Director of Marketing Operations for one of Canada's largest entertainment companies. I was barely home to see my husband, and struggling to get pregnant. I had worked so hard to get to where I was in my career, I lost sight of so many other desires I had in life.
Something had to change.
I left my 6 figure high title career to open my own business. Everyone called me 'Crazy'.
But I felt the call for something more. I knew this life wasn't for me anymore and I wanted different things,
We managed to get pregnant as soon as I left work, which changed my approach on opening my own business. I took my pregnancy "off" from working. Everywhere I looked felt misaligned from who I wanted to be after leaving my career. Every ounce of me was going through a major transformation, I didn't realize the deapths of this until we welcome our baby boy in to the world.
I had a major postpartum moment (more like weeks. If I'm being honest). I did not know how I could do "this" for another human. I had been working my butt off my whole life for myself, which was easy. Could I do it for someone else? How was I supposed to care for him and go back to working as hard as I was?
I knew right away this new version of myself is no longer willing to sacrifice her time and family for a paycheck. I'm not just looking out for me, I'm looking out for us.
As a big believer in the Universe. I know this prayer was answered, because it wasn't 3 weeks later that I found UBC. I had reached out to a friend and got started on my digital marketing journey as fast as I could. I hadn't felt this excited about an opportunity in a long time! A really long time!
Sometimes we try to force what we think we need in order to get what we want. When in reality, the Universe always has a better plan to get us what we need. The tricky part? Learning to surrender, trust, and take action when you hear the call!
